EIN GEDI, A PIECE OF PARADISE
This place is definitely one of my favorite place in the world! Green spot in the desert, the Ein Gedi reserve is a real paradise, located on the lowest altitude point of the world, near the shores of the Dead Sea.
Most people generally go no further than the David waterfall, and I also didn’t know than there is something more after it. However, sad to observe that this place has seriously been affected by drought (the water level has dropped by half), I’ve decided to continue the hike, though I didn’t have the correct shoes (don’t forget your sneakers! I did it in … flip-flop!). The trails involve a little climbing, so be prepared for something a little physically demanding. It took me one hour of hiking, with amazing view over mountains, Dead Sea and Jordan, flora and fauna along the way (foxes, wolves and hyenas, but we are not supposed to see them during the day (thankfully!), and of course, the commonly seen ibex and hyrax).
After one hour, the discovery was breathtaking! A private pool, with fresh – sweet – mineral water, silence and nature all around. A real relaxation and peaceful time which makes you realize that there is nothing more beautiful and true than nature …
